A Stardew Series: Why Are We Doing This?

(Pssst! To have some fun!)

Okay, so I can already tell how dangerously obsessed I’m gonna be with Stardew Valley.

Stardew Valley is a pixelated farming simulation game that so far reminds me of a mix between Minecraft and Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life.

Your grandpa gives you a farm and it takes you a few more years of corporate life to wear you down before you get rid of everything to go live on the farm.

And of course, you’re met with a rundown farm filled with weeds and trees and rocks. Yay!

So it’s up to you to clean everything up, and build a life for yourself with your farm, and the townspeople.

I know I’m soooo late to the game (literally! It came out in 2016.). So you may wonder… why would you care about someone’s documentation about a game that’s been out for years now?

I have a few reasons this can be fun:

• It’s always fun watching someone navigate playing a game for the first time. Kinda like when you stare down your friend to see their reactions when they watch a movie you’ve already watched.

• The angle I’m thinking of taking with writing about Stardew Valley will be like you’re sitting around the dining room table catching up with a friend.

• I will add memes, tips I’m learning, and humor to make it fun, because I really do wanna have fun writing this!

I used to think Minecraft was some game third graders played so they could slay those green zombie guys I see everywhere on t-shirts and backpacks at Kohl’s.

But ever since a YouTuber I watch started intermingling with the big minecraft gamers, I began seeing the power behind Minecraft and the gamers who create such amazing stories (and builds!) behind their servers.

Every time I’d watch, I’d catch myself with a big, stupid grin on my face. Totally immersed.

So I wanna see if I can recreate enjoyment of a similar caliber through my writing about a game loved by many.

I’ve been clueless in the past when I’d hear people talk about Stardew Valley. Things like who was hot (also could be because I’m asexual), who’s hated, and why we’re so obsessed with the Stardew Valley chicken… but I’m finally about to learn it all myself.

And according to some tip videos I watched to help me start on the proper foot, we’re gonna be getting into A. LOT. of cool things together.

A Minecraft substitute for now but no matter the case, I’m super excited to try something new that I’m currently obsessed with to see what comes of it!
