Welcome to Friday Reflections! A weekly reflective series highlighting one thought or thing I loved and/or learned from the week.
Hello from my semi-refreshed bedroom!
This week’s been a bit of an emotional Tilt-o-Whirl.
I had my last therapy appointment on Wednesday and held in a good cry about it for a couple of hours.
I was actually afraid I’d have more unanswered questions I could no longer get answers to because we couldn’t see each other anymore, but our time together ended perfectly. She said I can always come back—and I want to! It’s just a bit out of my budget right now to do even once per month.
We’ll see what the future brings.
And speaking of the future…
I’ve decided to start posting Friday Reflections regularly again! Work on getting myself out of this sabotaging perfectionism cycle.
I truly was out here not wanting to come back in any type of consistency until I had completely rebranded, but I finally realized that’s just silly.
When I first started this series, it was to get into a weekly writing schedule. I didn’t know what else I’d publish or when, and this is exactly the same scenario. And it’s fine!
I think a mixture of my last therapy session this week and the 12-week program I’m in that’s about money relationships and shadow work I’ve told you about in the past really stirred something up in me this week.
Did I wanna come back once I was no longer Losing Orbit and I had made new visuals and refreshed my About page and all of that? Absolutely!
But I’m realizing it’s not necessary. Only action is, truly.
And I can take action with writing just by doing my Friday Reflections again. The rest will come when it comes. And hey, I already have some ideas for things I wanna create and share, but nothing that I can confidently say would be part of any consistent schedule. And that’s okay for now, too.
Baby steps. That’s the biggest lesson from this week.
Keep moving, even if it’s an inch at a time. It’s all still movement that can lead to change, possibilities, and growth.
This One Thing…
So I’m the type of person who can chill with a super old electronic device until it can no longer take it.
If I hadn’t lost track of my iPod mini years ago, I promise you I’d still be using it instead of my phone!
So it was a sad day last week when the Kindle I got back in 2016 off eBay for my trip to South Korea just… stopped working.
I tried every troubleshooting trick I could find, and no dice.
So I ordered the newest one and I’ve gotta admit… Electronic upgrades are pretty nice!
It has a bigger screen, it’s apparently waterproof, I can adjust the warmth and brightness of the screen more, it reacts quicker to touch, and it’s just nice!
I usually just borrow books from my local library to read and listen to, and though I sometimes shop on Amazon, I told myself I’d only buy books from places like our local bookstores, BookShop, or Libro.fm (for audiobooks).
But I’ve gotta be honest…
I did take advantage of the Kindle Unlimited subscription only because I can also download and read manga on my Kindle with it! And there’s so many to choose from!
I used to subscribe to Viz Media, but I couldn’t stand reading on my phone or iPad… I’m still gonna do research on it, but if anyone has any insights on reading manga on a Kindle please let me know!
It’s been a LONG minute since I’ve posted a Friday Reflection! So tell me how your summer’s been? I’ve been doing SO much this year, and we’re not even finished!
