It’s been too many weeks since this phenomenon took place but: desserts.
Loads of em (for me, as someone who’s sweet tooth usually consists of snacking on white chocolate Kitkats or Reese Sticks from time to time).
The variety varied so much (and so deliciously) that I had to share what I munched on with you (especially since you can make/find/keep an eye out for similar things).
I asked over on my Instagram if anyone was interested in seeing the desserts I ate in a “dessert tour” post and got like, 4 amazing people saying “yes.
So let’s begin the tour:
Crumbl Cookie’s Tripple Berry Cobbler Cookie
Oh… My gosh.
Despite the online fights between Crumbl Cookie vs Other Cookie Shops (Insomnia Cookies is my “other” that I prefer), I can’t help but keep track of the new cookies that come out each week on the Crumbl app.
And the week of October 17th blessed us with their new Tripple Berry Cobbler cookie! A thick, nicely-spiced oatmeal cookie base smothered with a loose strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry jam.
The fruity “filling” was sweet with the perfect acidic bite to cut the sweetness like a quality preserve.
It was fresh-tasting, and as a seed-hater that waited months for a small business to restock their seed straining smoothie cups… the seeds were VERY minimal and tolerable!
What really took this cookie to the next level was the cream cheese icing! Beautifully thick and smooth, it was sweet with just the slightest cream cheese tang that paired perfectly with the berry “filling.”
I’d eat slices of it for breakfast, trying to savor it day by day.
I saved one last piece that I ete November 1st.
Kunefe

Picture this: crispy, fried shredded phyllo dough soaked in a warm sugary syrup, and incased inside is a slightly salty mild melty white cheese that’s then topped with pistachios.
A little different than what most Westerners are used to, right? But it’s so delicious.
It’s called Kunefe.
The first time I had some was from the freezer section at Trader Joe’s and believe it or not, it got rave reviews from both peeps who’ve eaten it before and those who were new to Kunefe.
After Trader Joe’s discontinued carrying it earlier this year I found a local place near me that served it…
And I took it for granted. Just got my first order from them when I found out from my local foodie Fcaebook Group that they were closing at the end of October.
So I ran back into the group, begging for other places to find the divine dessert.
Here’s some places you could search for some, too:
International grocery stores in the freezer section.
Other medditerian and/or middle eastern local markets or restaurants may serve it (the markets may have the ingredients or frozen ones).
Lemme know if you get your hands on one, and what you think!
Pinch of Yum’s Salted Caramel Rice Krispies

Pinch of Yum is definitely my top go-to food blogger.
I’ve tried and cherished so many of her recipes, that my long-winded appreciation post on one of her giveaway posts on IG won me a $75 “thank you” gift card from Lindsay (owner of Pinch of Yum) herself!
Anyway, not too long ago she shared the recipe to one of her staple deserts she apparently makes all the time and has done so for years.
Salted caramel Rice Krispie treats.
They don’t taste exactly like caramel, but the texture is similar to a soft caramel and the taste is like a buttery, subtle butterscotch.
And great (as she says) a couple minutes out of the fridge!
They’re cool and just the right consistency I promise you will have never had in a Rice Krispie treat before.
Adding the salt to the “salted caramel” makes it so perfect to just take tiny squares (or bites) from it and feel satisfied.
It’s excellent with tea, coffee, on its own…
Mmmmmm!
Ube Mochi Donuts
Mochi donuts are a newer phenomenon this year for us here; a local shop introduced us to them and they sold out so quickly so often that they had to temporarily close to regroup and restrategize.
So knowing it was too far away for me to ever nab one, I got really excited when a new boba shop nearby opened and decided to serve their own mochi donuts.
What makes mochi donuts different from other pastry deserts is their presently subtle chewy texture.
I can’t speak for the über popular place, but this place fries their donuts so that they have a slightly crispy exterior and the donut itself is tender, light, not too sweet, and pleasantly chewy.
Then they add one of several icing flavors on top, my favorite so far being ube–a purple yam that has a buttery, subtly sweet flavor to it.
I learned about mochi donuts a year or two after Trader Joe’s had both vanilla and chocolate boxed mochi cake, and now I regret not trying it back when it was available.
Honorable Mentions
Aside from Pinch of Yum’s salted caramel rice krispies being added to the rotation, these other two desserts are ones I keep stocked and ready for consumption on a weekly basis.
The Perfect Chocolate Mug Cake
I never have pictures of these because I demolish them when I sit down to eat them (I’ll try harder to get that pic), but this is a recipe adapted from Ree Drummond’s mug cake recipe.
Here’s the tweaks I make to her recipe:
Cut the mug cake ingredient in half (the full serving is too much foror me. Plus it leaves room for the ice cream on top!).
Add a smidge less cocoa powder than called for (to make it less rich, more sweet).
Add white chocolate chips.
Add a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream on top straight out of the microwave.
I dunno how long mom’ll let me get away with “having things on her countertops that don’t belong there”, but know if I had my own place? You’ll see two mugs filled with pre-mixed mug cake dry ingredients constantly on the kitchen counter, saran wrapped and ready to go.
Target’s Good Day Creme Brûlée
Did you know Target has creme brûlée??
Their brand, Good Day, makes a pretty good one you can find in the freezer section.
Didn’t think you could make a bad creme brûlée until I bought one from another store and it was bland and bitter out of the oven.
It’s pretty bad when caramelized sugar can’t even save a dish…
Target’s has a smooth, vanilla custard that’s the perfect vehicle for the sugar topping it comes with (they give you plenty). And the shallow ramekins are so cute!
Not sure what I’m gonna do with such shallow ramekins… But, I had to keep a set.
Creme brulee makes me feel fancy, so I’m glad I found an easily accessible one that I can keep in my freezer at all times.
Well that’s a wrap for the week.
Future posts are gonna be a bit more intentional and interesting, I promise.
I kinda wrote this too far out from my initial sugar rush to be as jazzed about it as I was at first, but I’m excited to bring you the topics and articles I’ve been excited about for months now.
Gonna be coming back SKRONG and I can’t wait for you to see. 🙂
Later, gator!
