The subtitle is the slightest bit clickbaity and inaccurate but helps to draw in people who may have felt something was “wrong” their entire lives.
I’ve seen more and more people in their 50s and older just now learning about the concept of asexuality and that they are not, indeed, “broken.”
So for Ace Week this week, I wanted to share a slew of resources I’ve come across over the years that’ve helped me and others explain the differences to themselves, and others.
But before I get into that, I do have some silly little Asexual Ancedotes I wrote when I first made my Substack you could read for a laugh (or see if it, unfortunately, resonates!).
I present to you:
The time a friend told me to look at muscles to cure me.
And, the time I dated someone who kissed me like his grandma.
Enjoy!
Okay, now? Onto the resources:
For a brief overview:
An Instagram post I made two years ago to explain Asexuality!
Visual overviews/info
My favorite comic on the matter.
A slideshow a fellow Ace made for people wanting to show their parents, and/or peers.
Books for resources
This is the only book I can recommend that I haven’t read yet, but have heard A LOT of people get a lot of good out of:
Ace by Angela Chen (Bookshop link, no affiliate links).
And this book I’ve heard about Asexuality through a black lens (another Bookshop link, no affiliate links!).
A video!
This is by a YouTube animator named Jaiden Animations and it’s really informative and visual! And, covers aromantic as well!
Okay, I’m gonna be honest, I heard it was Ace Week last minute but wanted to get something out during its week soooo… this isn’t the best compilation but it is something.
Feel free to ask any questions if you have ‘em!
Alright, this will be sent to you in the morning but I’m finishing this after 8:30 at night and am ready for dinner! So I’ll chat with you soon enough about other things if this isn’t your jam!
Thanks so much for reading and/or sticking around!
See ya soon. :)
