Back in September I was prepared and excited to come back to Substack.
I had folders ready in Google Docs, articles outlined, and was ready to announce that I had a paid subscription launched and what that means…
Instead, life collapsed on top of me, knocking the wind out of me. Over, and over, and over again.
At the beginning of September I found myself writing this:
Since then our family has gone through more in 2-months than imaginable:
A family member developing crippling anxiety
Another diagnosed with stage 4 cancer
A car accident
Hospital visits, and a stay
A sudden death in the family
And a few more events…
It’s been quite a season.
Things didn’t go as expected.
I was fighting a lot of things, including the idea of my existence...
But it’s been about 2 weeks of things feeling a little less chaotic.
We’re all still stumbling and bracing ourselves for the next hit, because it’s certainly not over…
But I can speak for myself when I say that it feels good to feel something again beside bitterness and the dull heavy ache of anger.
I’m ready for growth, structure, and to have a will to live and purpose again and it feels pretty darn good.
Lemme wrap this up by telling you I’m so excited to be back. I’m always excited to write for you here on Substack.
Life just hits, bro.
And even though it’s still swinging, I really want to show up as best I can for the business I’m building and the work I LOVE to create on Substack.
So I’m gonna try again!
If you’d like the support my writings and work, there’s a paid subscription available where I’ll post more intimate posts and sometimes bonus content when it comes about.
I’ll be working toward writing weekly for my public community, but will also try to add exclusive paid content at least once a month to those who have graciously decided to support me monetarily (than you!).
Thank you all so much for your grace as I work toward making sense of my life and how to show up better for the things I enjoy doing!
See ya soon! ;)
1. Educated by Tara Westover (affiliate link). A memoir by a woman who escaped her survivalist mormon family. The story is WILD and the lessons from all Tara went through are so poetic and something anyone can take from. Beautifully written.
2. Salted caramel rice krispies. When Pinch of Yum posts a recipe, I make it! And this one was a winner. It’s buttery and has just the perfect amount of salty sweet. Definitely tear off a wedge a few minutes out of the fridge. Great with coffee, tea, everything.
3. The slow birth of my red prayer plants first successful new leaf.
Glad to see you making the effort to write again.
