Hey there. This week’s piece is a short inquiry I wrote on November 12, 2022. I got really tangled up in the piece meant for this week, so let’s hope therapy helps me iron out some internal reflections that bummed me out this week!
Since it was a draft, it’s been lightly edited for clarity and a bit of expansion.
I’ve found myself making Pinch of Yum’s salted caramel Rice Krispie bars only when my mom’s napping in the morning.
I have to have either
’s Substack podcast, Furry Little Peach, or a 2Hearts1Seoul video playing as I bake. It’s a cozy ritual, and feels necessary.
Like something’ll be off if I choose to make those Rice Krispie bars any other way.
I used to do this at my grandma’s too.
Every time a new Killing Eve episode would come on TV, I’d need to be in the kitchen while it played, frying up a plate of Oridea fries to dip in my homemade fry sauce.
Despite the lengthy graphic gore that’d play out on screen, it made me feel so present and comforted when I’d indulge in Killing Eve in that way.
And as I write this, I realize I haven’t watched a Killing Eve episode since my fry fixation at grandma’s.
What’re the rituals you notice yourself doing? Not just the routines that have become a daily habit…
But the things you do in a certain way because you enjoy it?
Lemme know! I’d love to hear.
I love watching shows on my Ipad while cooking or interesting podcasts. Also love saving my newsletters, articles, and good reads to read later in my quiet spaces around my home. Another one is checking out library books- It’s our household weekly thing to do.
