How will you show up for those who’ve already shown up for you?
This was partially inspired by
’s article on Taylor Swift’s business plan for us Substackers, and partially because I noticed myself focusing too hard on losing at least two subscribers recently (they were more personal losses). Before I even read Sarah’s post, I found myself putting all my attention on who I lost, instead of the amazing people who are still with me, still engaging, still loving what I do.
THEY. ARE. HERE.
No matter if it’s one person, five, 100… They’re there for a reason, so why are you focusing on those who have left (for whatever reason)?
Or even those who haven’t found you yet?
Imagine being on a date. You’ve liked what they’ve had to say, your shared interests, how you express yourself, and… they’re looking past you, not even paying attention to you! Hoping someone else comes along!
Rude!
Let’s remember who’s shown up for us already, and give them our undivided attention when we’re creating and sharing our expressions for them, shall we?

Another positive: sometimes people come back, too. And absolutely, your people are already here and will remain.
