Interesting post. I knew I wasn't going to have kids at an early age. Even still, I've volunteered with kids and was a nanny for my niece and nephew. I'm good with kids, but I am not into actually having my own. Some treat me like a weirdo or feel sorry for me, but they're wasting their time.

That's so wild when people feel sorry for you to decide something for your life. So many projections!

Did you find you ever played with baby dolls as a kid?

I don't think my mom ever trusted me with kids growing up cause I'm so laid back and had no interest in being around kids haha.

I'd never do anything like punt a baby, but people have definitely looked at me like that's what I do in my freetime when I say I'm not interested in any part of motherhood, or being around kids period.

My baby cousins don't care about me and vice versa, and I have one tiiinier baby cousin who's like.... 2 that was really drawn to me and I played with her for a long while and loved that she wanted to be around me and hug me... but I was also VERY glad to give her back to her parents when the day was done lol!

It is a lot of projecting, I agree. The nerve, lol!

I might have played with dolls when I was super young, but I don't recall. I did play with barbies and stuffed animals, but never saw myself as the mommy.

Do you find it annoying that everything caters to kids and families? I didn't used to mind back when people disciplined their kids. But lately kids seem to have taken over. It's fine if people want kids, but not if they expect strangers to deal with the monsters they created. It's like parents want their kids to think they're cool more than they actually want to be parents...

The. Nerve!!

Yeah that's what I know for sure, I never played mommy and I've seen girls play mommy for sure!

And I personally don't like the dismissal families think they deserve?? I guess I mean for example, like I've heard of kids being in strangers' personal space and touching strangers and the parent(s) are just out there chuckling like "oh, isn't my baby cute?!"

NO! Just because they're a child doesn't give them a right to invade my personal space. GET YOUR CHILD!

Also find it SO strange how some people can treat having children so nonchalantly. Like... why are you trying to convince someone who doesn't want to have kids... to have kids??

Kids aren't a gelato sample? Or a test drive in a potential new car???

They're legitimate HUMANS? So... No? Don't tell people they'll love it once they are parents like it can be a test run on something???

Haha, so true. Strange that we need a license to drive, fish or hunt but not to raise a new human, lol. Not that I officially endorse that or anything, but it's interesting.

I knew a woman who said she had kids so someone would take care of her when she's old. Ironically, one of her sons doesn't have contact with her anymore.

I guess it's good that we know ourselves well enough to know our path might not be the one most traveled.

Oh my mom's told me that before. It's good to have children so they can help you when you get old and I was like... UH... no?????

That's not one of the reasons to have kids lol.

And I've seen that theory! If only there was a way to get everyone a surgery to make them unable to have kids until they're ready. I know there's no line to let people know they're ready... but it's interesting to think of that reversal.

Sorry for the late reply, too!
