I talked about parental disappointment in my Sinner’s Bingo newsletter (and how I never cared when they were disappointed in me), so I wanted to know if you ever cared about disappointing your guardians? Why or why not?
Oh YES, this is honestly a big unlearning lesson for me as an adult not so much in the religious respect but more on expectations of my career. I was on track for "success" working in government tech but got laid off and decided to start my own coaching biz instead. I still am working through not feeling responsible for their discomfort and projections because I am so much happier on the path I'm on now
Oh goodness! Yessss! I get the career disappointment. It's so strange how much projection can happen, and I get when family just want you safe, but it's unfortunate that they can't at least support for a deadline of like... a year and then want you to have an ultimatum set up versus just straight up not wanting you to try something that actually makes you happy! I'm speaking hypothetically of course!
But it always seems like they're only okay once they see you making oodles of cash, but until then they just add friction toward you trying to live a life you're truly happy with!
(Thank you for your reply and love and constant support! It doesn't go without notice!! <3)
