Mom Taught Me #1: A Hot Cereal Hack

A sweet lil drawn series on memories of mom

Maybe the only hot cereal you’ve ever eaten in your house was oatmeal. Maybe even grits. But my mom and dad introduced us to a variety growing up.

One mash-up I never forgot and still eat as a treat to this day is a big scoop of vanilla ice cream in a hot bowl of CoCo Wheat¹.

And mom always told me that grandpa just threw that together for her and her siblings when she was a kid and she just passed it on to us—because it’s good.

Hot and cold (like a breakfast brownie and ice cream!), creamy, sweet…

I felt this was the best illustration to start this series with because it involved both my mom and grandpa who both passed within four months of each other.
