This piece felt very raw and I felt very seen when you mentioned recalling the angry customer the next day, and immediately feeling shame (I've been there in a different situation). I loved how you literally shook off that memory and its feelings out of your body, as best you could. I think it's great and I think I am going to try it!
Helen! Thank you so much for your lovely response! I’m sorry you could relate to that feeling, and am also glad you felt inspired to try out the shaking! When we’re aware of it, and the big feeling of it, it’s so neat to find ways to process those feelings. Sometimes, it’s in the form of movement! Sometimes we need to truly feel through things in order to get through them! Again, thank you for reading and commenting! I’m so glad you enjoyed it and it’s engagement from my community that give me an extra pep to keep going! ♥
Shaking is a part of my bedtime routine - not only shaking through the emotions, but also shaking off the energetic muck of the world that we pick up through the day. I picked it up after hearing a couple of women talk about it a while back. I shake in the shower, no water running, tp let the energy go down the drain.
Oooh that’s so good! Making it into a routine is such a good practice :)
And love the shower version! I’ve heard people say they imagine letting negativity wash off them in the shower, but not letting it come off with a nice shake in the shower. Love it!
I've used the phrase "shake it off" plenty of times but next time I'm going to literally SHAKE too. Considering the way I can sometimes hoard emotions, I bet I'm going to look like Tube Man. Haha!
