Thank you, Nadia! Yes my mom loved me, and my therapist said maybe a bit toooo much haha. We just could never find a balance with her accepting that I wasn't physically her little baby doll anymore haha. Ultimately she had me until the end of her time, and now it's time for me to spread my wings and figure me out now that she doesn't have to be agonized by it ahaha! I appreciate you so much, Nadia!
I loved reading this piece and that it included a lot of photos. You looked lovely in every photo and I was delighted to read that eventually you took ownership of your hair and developed a style that is your own (the buzz cut looks amazing!). I am also really sorry to hear that you lost your mother in 2022. By sharing the history of your hair you have given us, readers like myself, a personal, complex, and honest history of your life. I was honored to read it.
I came here to comment and I have the same sentiments. I loved the accompanying pictures and I love the evolution of your relationship with yourself and your hair.
Stephanie!! I appreciate this so much! Thank you for taking the time out to double down and what you enjoyed about this piece! It excites me that I was able to write something so "me"-centric and still have it be enticing and engaging! It means the world; thank you so much!
Awww yay! Oh I'm so happy to hear that! That truly makes me happy that you'll be sharing your own journey! Whenever I remember to reflect on the past and how far I've come, it amazes me, so I can't wait for you to explore and rediscover your own journey! Thank you so much! I'm so glad such inspo came from my own story! :))) :D
This is such a beautiful comment, Helen, thank you for reading AND sharing your insights! I really appreciate that you enjoyed all the aspects of the story and the photos as well! It means so much that it was an engaging read, despite it being so much about "me." Also thank you for the condolences; I hope she's at peace and happy to see me coming into my own (and I'm alive to tell about it! It wasn't the end of the world! Ahaha!).

You enticed me to write about my relationship with myself growing up! I’m working on it now and I’ll likely reference this piece in it :)

It is a worthwhile journey for sure, we can only hope to self-actualize more in this lifetime. You are doing great!
Thank you so much!! It's taken years, but I'm so glad to be on this reflective journey!
