Ooooh! I love that you're playing with comics. I only started drawing a few months ago and it's SO FUN! I'm learning to look so much more deeply at things, which is an unexpected bonus. And thinking in visual ways is a totally new skill that I hope you love developing as much as I do. So I'm excited for you. ALSO, I think that this is the first time a fellow substacker has mentioned Great Things in their stack, so I wanted to thank you for making history and being awesome!

I've done a few doodles in diary entries yeeeears ago but have totally lost the brainpower to think creatively when it comes to visuals--I want that back! Haha. I wanna be more intentional with my writing and anything else I pursue (like the comics and doodles!). And thank you for the well wishes! Oh, and really?! Yaaay haha glad to be first first, and I know I won't be the last! :)

Thank you! That's kind of you. I learned from someone recently that if you can do some squiggles and some lines, then you can draw. We all do it so naturally as kids. But then we get all grown up and serious and we also get self-conscious. It's a fun skill to reclaim!

Of course! And I think that’s gonna be a big challenge for this year: simplifying. I’ve been finding myself spending WAY too much time trying to “perfect” pieces when that’s not the point of what I’m practicing or trying to create.

So a *definite* YES to how we grow up and become all serious and what came naturally fun and free gets a little rusty for us, haha.

I’ll gain back simplicity this year though! That’s a promise. Thank you for chatting with me!
