Sunday Dispatch #2: In progress...
Tips on building a daily time management system, a tiny Tigger, & sherbet skies
Tell the week’s storyThis past week’s had wobbly legs!
I skipped week 2 of the Sunday Dispatch because I was locked-in on creating a new time management system for my life now that I have goals I wanna achieve and a job to work around. And with new months being one of my favorite “restart” times of the year, you know I had to get it mostly done by the beginning of this new month.
And I nearly have!
I gotta let you in on what hours of research and tutorials have taught me:
You can research and learn all the ways in the world to better manage your time, but you’ve gotta implement and test them in order to see if they’re a right fit for you. Then you can tweak them!
Whatever scheduling system you try, give yourself buffer time within it and your tasks, and in your life to let it work and break and to rebuild it.
If you have an irregular schedule, there’s an app for that! I liked the idea of time blocking, but couldn’t figure out how to make it work when you have a work schedule that’s different every week. So I took to Reddit and found ONE person sharing this resource. Now I’m a paying user! In a nutshell, you make the schedule and repeating tasks and events… And whatever you add, it will magically move things around to fit your new tasks/events! GAME 👏🏼 CHANGER! 👏🏼
I’ve tried using Notion for years and have only been able to actively keep up with one page to house recipes in. But I’ve made a new system with pieces I’ve copied from other Notion-users and time management creators who tour their layouts on YouTube that help eliminate WAY more friction in the process, and so far it’s been helping a ton!
My days were just feeling so jumbled, and I’d end them feeling frazzled and unaccomplished. I knew I needed to prioritize getting my ish together so I could show up fully for the rest of my life and its happenings!
The latest I’ve written was a piece about learning to say, “no” thanks to a real life practice of being called into work on my days off! :D
I was too locked-in on figuring out my time management system to share much else!
The growth of my plant since December 2022 (it used to be the height of a barstool!). Wow, huh?! Don’t mind the text, it was from my last Sunday Dispatch where I got a visit from my dead mom. :)
Some wreaths my mom made! She has such an eye for design.
The cute Tigger toy of mine I saved from our garage sale! His arms move and he’s fuzzy!!
This drink combo I’ve been loving: Snapple fruit punch and coconut La Croix! Get a glass, add some ice, then the fruit punch, and a couple splashes of the coconut La Croix! To me it dilutes the sweetness of the fruit punch and adds a very subtle tropical taste to it. And fizz! A very fun drink :)
Baking banana nut bread galore! I’ve found the perfect recipe!
And finally… Sherbet skies.
That’s it for this week’s Sunday Dispatch! Sorry there’s an annoying white background in the headers! It chooses when it will and won’t have it and it irritated me too much to bother redownloading it over and over until it finally showed up transparent. 🙃
Sooo… How do you keep yourself organized throughout the days and weeks? I may have watched hours of videos, but I didn’t learn everything. Share your favorite ways to stay on top of things (or at least have a list to attempt)!
Thanks for reading Sunday Dispatch! A weekly-ish series where I round up anything you’ve missed, and faves, tips, and little joys I wanted to share with you.
‘Til next time! :)
Organization...I use both the calendar on my phone and an "analog" planner. On most Sundays, I take some time to chart out the week ahead. I also have a bunch of to-do lists going simultaneously, because, Long Covid brain.
I try to check something off one of my lists most days, though I usually take one of the weekend days to unplug and do nothing (because, see above).
